Interactive Virtual Reality Viewing Sculpture
Forgotten Landscapes is an interactive installation featuring 360° VR videos of deserted sites in Austin—each marking the last-known location of a missing person. Drawing from local news archives and NamUs, the piece reflects on cold cases involving women, children, and minorities.
Inspired by Edison’s Kinetoscope, a hand-cranked viewing machine allows one person at a time to explore these silent landscapes. The machine only functions through audience interaction, placing the viewer in a panoptic position to confront absence and memory.
